They quickly realized that they were experts in three of the most important components of the wedding day and brought their knowledge together to create a dynamic planning team.

In December of 2014, Nicole Hensley founded Storybook Weddings & Events with the intention of it being a solo journey. But shortly after its opening, one became two and two became three.

Nicole, Lisa and Lindsay had met one another separately while attending industry networking events. Through casual conversation came the realization that they all had something in common. They had a passion for the wedding industry and for helping couples plan the wedding of their dreams. At the time, Nicole worked for a catering company, Lisa worked in event entertainment & production and Lindsay managed a private venue.

The three of us becoming a trio in business was not a planned one, but we can say this was the best “accident” that could have ever happened!

5 Things You May Not Know About Me:

I used to drive a super comp dragster and was licensed by World Champion Funny Car Driver, Jack Beckman. I raced for three years and was sponsored by the world leading, Don Schumacher Racing. Since then, I have filled the adrenaline of 200mph with the excitement of my couples’ wedding day!

I am a mommy to a silly and sweet one year old boy. Caleb brightens my day and makes me constantly remember to enjoy each passing moment as they come and go too quickly.

I have a passion for music and will love attending the concerts of my favorite musicians! Damien Rice and Amos Lee are my two top singer/songwriters and I have seen them both almost more times than I can count!

I love details! You have probably heard this mentioned a million times from me, but I cannot get enough about the tiny pieces of decor that help make each wedding day unique. From calligraphy on silk ribbon to be tied around the bouquet or your wedding vows written on scrolls as a wedding backdrop, customized drink stirrers and everything in between. My couple’s can count on me to not overlook a thing!

Coffee. It is the reason that I make it through most days! But, you will probably find me sitting with the same cup that I brewed at 6am still sitting at my desk (reheated for the 15th time) at 6pm in the evening. As much as I love my coffee, sometimes I think just having it on my desk does the same job as drinking it!

Storybook has quickly grown to one of Chicago’s Elite Wedding Planning Companies, being featured in The Knot Magazine, Modern Luxury Brides Chicago and many other exclusive publications. I am proud to have a passionate team of planners who hold the value of my vision for Storybook true and have aided in the amazing growth we have seen over the past years.

Since Storybook’s opening I have become a speaker and educator to aspiring wedding planners and business owners and have been a Leader of the Rising Tide Society since 2016. In 2016, I also took home the NACE/ILEA Chicago Excellence Rising Star Award and Co-Chaired the planning of the 2017 NICE Awards Gala. With Social Media and Business Strategy as a passion of mine, I volunteer as Social Media Chair for the National Association for Catering and Events (NACE).

Hi there! I am Nicole Hensley and I am the Founder & Lead Planner of Storybook Weddings & Events. I am honored to plan timeless and sophisticated weddings for couples looking to create an engagement journey as memorable as their wedding day.

I too have enjoyed the engagement experience and I know all too well that time passes quicker than we expect. Taking the work off my client’s plate and encouraging them to create a memorable engagement is my greatest joy of the process.

After managing the event logistics for The Walt Disney World Company and working as a Special Events Manager for one of Chicago’s Top Catering Companies, I realized that founding my own event planning company was the next step in my career.

Hi! My name is Lisa Jaroscak and I am a Wedding Planner and Coordinator with Storybook Weddings & Events!

I have had the opportunity to place “nationwide event planning guru” on my resume and couldn’t be prouder to bring my expertise of large scale events to Storybook in January of 2015!

Prior to planning weddings, I traveled the country producing, coordinating and executing a vast variety of events from music festivals, expos and corporate functions. I continues to strengthen my creativity with each event that I produce and by encouraging the expansion of my couples’ wedding visions by incorporating new and before-the-trend details.

I am a lover of music of all forms. I have played the piano for 20+ years and studied operatic vocal performance. I am still an active musician in the community, and I sing with an incredible group based out of Lakeview, Allegrezza. Besides performing I love listening to music, going to concerts, and discovering new artists.

Traveling is one of my biggest passions. I was fortunate to live in Italy and have travelled all over Europe. Discovering new cultures, food, traditions, and architecture is one of my favorite things to do when I am not wedding planning.

Cooking for my friends and family is something that really brings me joy. I constantly host people for dinner and love to be creative in the kitchen. I cook as often as I can, and I rarely use a recipe. I enjoy testing new flavor combinations and crossing my fingers that it turns out to be tasty.

 Along with cooking, I just love food in general. Trying new restaurants in every place I have lived and travelled to is absolutely a part of who I am. My friends and family always turn to me for a good restaurant recommendation. I try to be adventurous and try new foods when I go to eat. Usually I discover new and exciting dishes.

Coats and Shoes are what make an outfit. I am definitely an addict when it comes to these items :) Heels of every color and material are the perfect pop for any outfit, and I am a midwest girl so cute coats are simply a necessity of life.

I am a self-proclaimed “Lover of Love!" I truly enjoy being a part of creating and planning your special moments in life. I place a high importance in making your events unique and personal to you.

After growing up in Ohio and spending a decade in NYC, I am so happy to now be living in Chicago, it’s a perfect blend of the two lifestyles! Throughout my path to where I am now, I have worked in video production as an on-air talent in radio, performed improv comedy and then finally found myself working in hospitality, which led me to wedding planning!

It was quite a journey, but I am so happy to have found what I want to do for the rest of my life! To have found a career that makes me excited to wake up every day is incredible.

I believe that life is meant to be celebrated, so there is no better job suited for me than to be a Wedding and Event Planner!

Lindsay LOVES to dance. She grew up studying ballet, and continued dancing throughout college, then taught ballet for kiddos for a couple of years post-graduation. Currently she takes classes at the gym from time to time... but she finds that the best place to have a dance party is at home!

If Lindsay was an adult beverage, she would like to be Champagne: classy and fun... just like the events that she throws!

03.

Lindsay has an affinity for street art. Whether the artwork is meaningful or simply visually appealing, she really appreciates self-expression... especially if the street art is enhancing the aesthetic of a neighborhood.

Lindsay loves anything old... old people, old buildings, antiques, vintage pieces, etc. She loves learning about the history behind everything!

05.

You can often find Lindsay at one of her favorite restaurants in the city, located at Restoration Hardware in Gold Coast. She likes to pretend that she lives there and often uses that location for meetings or as a work space. If you see her, please stop by and say hello!
