With Jessica having a degree in Musical Theater, and Matt pursuing a career in finance, Matt and Jessica were both meant to end up in New York City. Then, on a beautiful summer evening, Matt met Jess while she was working as a cocktail waitress at a rooftop bar in the city called “The Dream Hotel.” He was meeting up with a group of his co-workers, and upon arrival he was told: “find the prettiest girl on this roof and you’ll have found our waitress.” Quickly Matt laid eyes on his future wife, Jessica, and the rest was history!
Their wedding day was absolutely wonderful, as expected. Both the groomsmen and bridesmaids got ready that morning at the beautiful Ritz Carlton in Battery Park, and their rooms were filled with laughter and excitement. Despite the morning rain, the sky began to clear up as soon as everyone started heading to their cute little church down the road, St. Elizabeth Seton Shrine. Jessica’s friends sang a lovely version of “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” accompanied by both a violinist and cellist, who played throughout their ceremony. The church was fairly small in size, quaint and adorable, and full of love.
As soon as their wedding ceremony ended, guests walked across the street to their reception venue, Battery Gardens. It sits right on the water with a perfect view of the Statue of Liberty, which was quite exciting, especially for the guests who hadn’t been to NYC before! We added small touches of NYC to their décor, such as using silver Empire State Buildings as their table number holders, and silver die cast taxi cabs with their escort cards. Their reception was personalized through the placement of marquee “Q” lights in honor of their new last name together, and their first names were showcased through their specialty drink selections: the “Matt Fashioned” and the “Jess-Up” cocktails (Jessica works in Fashion and has a blog: http://letsjessup.com/).
Speeches were made, both planned, and unplanned (sometimes the unplanned ones can be the most touching!), and then dancing commenced.Their favorite singer, SvavarKnutur, flew in from Iceland to sing their first dance songs, which was very touching of him to make the trip! Jess and Matt shared their first dance to his original song “Baby Will You Marry Me.” It was truly very special, you could really feel the love, seriously
DJ Kevin Lim won the crowd over from the minute that he started playing, and the evening got even more exciting when Matt’s brother David took a turn on the turntables! At one point, one of the groomsmen was so amped up that he took off his shirt and had sparklers going (we write this as we shake our heads, yet laughing). We had a beautiful sparkler exit arranged with their friends and family surrounding Matt and Jess, which made for some stunning photos. From there, everyone headed to an after party at Pier A, which is also right on the water nearby. All in all, it was a fantastic, fabulous, and FUN black tie affair… congratulations to Matt and Jessica!
