Chicago sure gave us enough weather challenges during the summer of 2015 and Katie and John’s wedding day was no exception! The sun was shining so beautifully and warm on the morning of June 13th. We arrived to Katie’s hotel to drop off brunch while the girls had their hair and makeup done with mimosas in hand.
When we arrived at their venue, The Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum in Lincoln Park the clouds started rolling in. We knew that we probably wouldn’t be able to have the reception out on the rooftop terrace, as we had all hoped for and even pushed it to the limit having the ceremony in the garden. The outdoor ceremony was beautiful and Katie and John even had enough time to take their photos around the picturesque landscapes of the museum.
After cocktail hour, which included an open air butterfly garden, the guests made their way into a beautifully lit dinner room strung with cafe lighting and lanterns provided by First in Flight Entertainment and Craft Lighting.
After a delicious meal from Calihan Catering, it was on to the celebrating! Katie and John had the most intense and music loving group that we have ever seen. At times we had extra bass and bright lighting filling the room as a stunning thunderstorm lit up the evening sky. The music played all night long and the group sang loudly to Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off” with glow sticks in hand! Once midnight rolled around it was on to the next stop to keep the party going!
